“The Commander’s Corner”
~ Commander - George Rossner ~

As we wrap up Summer 2021, our children return to school, and we enjoy those last precious days of warmth, it is hard not to notice the recent spark of patriotism in our country again in the face of tragedy. Let’s renew our resolve.
With a bit of a heavy heart, this September I look forward to the various days of remembrance on the calendar in honor of those who all of this is in honor of as well as spending more time with my family and fellow veterans… something I wish for all of you.
Your comradery and fiscal support throughout this summer has been greatly appreciated and those that did have my personal gratitude for the ability to carry on the mission.
For those that are not aware we are moving our Legionnaire meetings up to 7:30pm rather than 8:00pm, hopefully a more convenient schedule.
Everyone try to have a wonderful September and I hope to see many of you soon!

“The Auxiliary Annex”
~ Auxiliary President - Jaki Fanelli ~

If you know a Veteran right now reach out. Have a coffee, sit with them in complete silence if that’s how it goes. The Auxiliary is composed of the spouses and women connected to Veterans. We support them at home and we hold it together when they are away. Right now, our heroes are in an unprecedented place of hurt for our generation. Right now, Gold Star families are in an unprecedented place of hurt. There is extreme confusion, anger, sadness, and justified concern for comrades that’s unescapable.
We want all of you that may be reading this to know that we would 100% rather sit with you for as long as it takes and listen to what you are struggling with, than sit and listen to your eulogy for 15 minutes.
We love you and we are here for you. And there are many reasons what’s happening right now isn’t on you. However, we also know you are watching and feel the weight, severity and responsibility of the situation.
Please reach out to the people that love you. You are a massively important part of our lives.

“The Squadron Square”
~ Squadron Commander - Philip Iuliucci ~

I would like to thank everyone who participated in this summer’s cornhole league. It was a good time for all and we will be looking to start another round on September 13th.
We will also be starting up the pool league again on September 22nd. Anyone interested in joining can leave their name and number at the canteen, contact us at our email address SonsSquadron311@gmail.com, or just show up.
We’d like you to know we are also planning a Beef & Beer for October 16th. So save the date! Further details will be in the October newsletter.
Thank you again to all who organize and participate to making these events happen!

“The 311 Connex”
~ Legion 311 Family ~

When thinking about what is appropriate to include here on behalf of the Post 311 Family it is very difficult not to first simply remember the soldiers we recently lost in Afghanistan, their families, the call coming for half mast everywhere, and the many pictures across the internet of memorials set up demonstrating solidarity in sadness, anger, and support.
This month is a month of remembrance. We will also be remembering the people lost during the 9/11 attacks which served as a catalyst for more war and many other lives lost as a result since then as well as POW/MIA Recognition Day and Gold Star Mothers Day. So let’s take a few extra moments to remember and support those lost on all battlefields, home and abroad, those that didn’t return, as well as our Gold Star families.

Finally, this Patriot Day, we also say thank you to those American patriots, veterans and friends of veterans that would think it strange to be reminded that we support each other back here at home during these times. God Bless America!
